It is a well-known fact an employee leaves the organisation mostly because of the manager they are reporting to rather than the work pressure. I am sure employees who doesn’t get support from their manager, they might be thinking what is the way out to “Escape From the Bad Manager”.
Imagine an employee somewhere from north of India who has 40
acres of land, huge bank balance received from forefathers, good political
background and he himself is 6 feet something wearing Handlebar Moustache (Dara
Singh style) and he working for a manager who wants to show his superiority by
demeaning, belittling others just because you made a mistake and tells you that
you have committed a crime by not working on your day off. If you do something
good then he says it was easy and if you need any help, then he tells you, for
every small thing you r coming to me so what the point of giving work to you and I will
do it myself.
The fact is that this type of manager was a bully in his
younger days and he is carrying forward same during his professional career
too.
I studied an article regarding reasons behind why do people
bully and to my surprise that Bad managers have almost same issues. Now I feel we
should have sympathy for those type of managers rather than employees who are
trying to get rid of them.
Are you feeling strange then read the reason yourself:
1.
Stress and Trauma: Accept unrealistic targets
and cascade stress to employees who report to them. “Yes boss, sorry boss and
now I can’t do it boss”
And ask their subordinates to address them
as SIR. “We in our school hostel days use to call sanitation worker as Sir
becoz they really make the environment healthy”
2.
Aggressive Behaviour: Not channeling their aggressiveness in taking quick decisions instead they show it on employees.
3.
Low Self-Esteem: If manager is not performing at
par with other peers.
4.
They’ve Been Bullied: Somehow they experienced
bully culture.
5.
Difficult Home Life: Listen to rappers you will get to know…
6.
Low Access to Education: This is more on a front that they are less willing to educate themselves for the job or profile in hand rather than
they were deprived of education or learning.
7.
Relationships: Always feel insecure in peer
group, friends and family.
So do we have any
chance to Escape from the Bad manager? Yes, we do have. Ask them to identify the
reason of their misery and also take some sessions with psychiatrist. Or Let
that 6 feet guy from the North continue working with that manager so that one day manager
will automatically get fixed on chal daru pite hai day… (Mein Kabhi Jukega nahi
sala..)
